Practice safe surfing! Free, yes free and legal anti virus program that protects your email and file downloads plus updates automatically and uses minimal system resources. Too good to be true? Nope! This one really does work and is usually more upto date than the big boys like Symatec aka McAfee aka Norton. AVG from www.Grisoft.com use a real email address and you'll get bulletins as new virii are found, I have yet to receive anything useless from them :-)

Communication

Need an email address? This is a good one www.fuckyou.co.uk link it in with ICQ (see below) and it'll alert you as soon as you have mail waiting.

Or for the more conservative amongst you find a more mainstream one at www.emailaddresses.com.

If you have a few web enabled email addresses you can access them from one portal at www.twigger.co.uk useful if you're on the road a lot.

Another useful little thingy and there are a few of them around - free SMS from your PC to a mobile, this one seems to work better than most, check out Lycos

Searching

This is simply the best search engine on the net, download this err special version and you’ll have the full ‘Pro’ incarnation of Copernic 2001 – it searches the search engines, it’s excellent for finding that elusive page. Great for research as you can query specfic territorial serach engines or specialist search engines.

WWW.192.com is an excellent place to find people, businesses etc. The free services are pretty good including an Electoral Roll search that has turned up a few people for me.

Software

If you need anything else take a look at this page FOSI always quality stuff here, funded by porn banner ads so not in front of the children!

There isn't a lot you can't get for free, even some pretty obscure stuff can be found with patience and a few contacts. Also there are some great freeware progs being written, check out this guy for a RAM maximiser amd this guy for some simple clean up type progs.
